‘OPENING WIDE THE DOORS TO CHRIST!
Hi Everyone. It is with great joy that we will open the Church of St. Mark in Springfield for private prayer. It will be open Monday to Friday for a trial period, between 10.30 am – 12.30 pm.
The Covd-19 restrictions will be of priority, with only ten people allowed into the Church at any one time and strict adherence to safe distancing will apply.
Pope Francis recently issued a warning of the dangers of divorcing our daily Christian lives from the Sacraments. He spoke about our efforts to communicate through online mediums only that it ‘is not the Church.’ We have been gifted the sacraments by Christ so that we can interact with his continuing living presence in a tangible way until the end of time.
That is why we took the decision to offer the Sacrament of Reconciliation last week outdoors and will continue to do so throughout this viral outbreak and why we will now open the doors of the Church so that people may spend time before the Blessed Sacrament of Jesus’ flesh and blood. And just like the disciples who sat with Christ on their way to Emmaus, our hearts may burn with hope, love and charity during these difficult days.
And please remember to pray for those who are struggling with bereavement at the moment.
May God bless and protect your families and loved ones.
