About St. Marks

St. Mark’s Church is the heart of Springfield Parish, serving a vibrant and diverse community in southwest Dublin. The parish was established in 1972, formed out of Tallaght / Bohernabreena Parish to meet the needs of a growing local population. In its early years, a temporary church stood on the site now occupied by the Scout Hall, offering a simple but important place of worship.

The current St. Mark’s Church was opened on 25th July 1975, providing a permanent spiritual home for the community. The church sits in a beautiful location, offering stunning views of the Dublin Mountains, which add a peaceful and inspiring backdrop to parish life.

Across the road from the church are Saint Mark’s Junior and Senior Primary Schools. These schools are closely connected to the parish and serve families from many different cultural backgrounds, reflecting the growing diversity of Springfield. Together, the schools and the parish support the faith development of the younger generation, particularly during important milestones like First Holy Communion and Confirmation.

The spirit of St. Mark’s Parish is one of welcome, service, and faith. Parishioners are deeply involved in all aspects of parish life, volunteering in ministries, committees, and community outreach. Events throughout the year, from liturgical celebrations to social gatherings, help strengthen the bonds of the community.

Today, St. Mark’s remains a place where people come together in worship, friendship, and service, continuing the mission begun by the first parishioners over fifty years ago.
