It washes away original sin and makes the person a member of the Church.<\/li>\n                      <li><strong>Symbol<\/strong>: Water, which cleanses and gives new life.<\/li>\n                      <li><strong>Words used<\/strong>: \u201cI baptize you in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.\u201d<\/li>\n                    <\/ul>\n                    <h3><strong>Confirmation<\/strong><\/h3>\n                    <ul>\n                      <li><strong>What it is<\/strong>: Strengthens the grace of Baptism. The person receives the Holy Spirit more deeply.<\/li>\n                      <li><strong>Symbol<\/strong>: Oil (Chrism), laying on of hands.<\/li>\n                      <li><strong>Effect<\/strong>: The person becomes a full adult member of the Church and receives the gifts of the Holy Spirit.<\/li>\n                    <\/ul>\n                    <h3><strong>Eucharist (Holy Communion)<\/strong><\/h3>\n                    <ul>\n                      <li><strong>What it is<\/strong>: Receiving the Body and Blood of Jesus under the appearance of bread and wine.<\/li>\n                      <li><strong>Meaning<\/strong>: A sign of unity with Christ and the Church.
